What Floristry Means to Me.
I created this arrangement after ‘a quiet.’ She is a flag flown to commemorate a patient practice. A perseverance only a silent pause can know.
The bustle of Idella’s first Mothers’ Day settled into a quiet longing for excitement. I had a full weekend of four flower market trips and a constant line of delivery drivers outside my Koreatown apartment building. I experienced an adrenaline that started before 5:00AM and continued until the last flower was plucked from its display vase and placed in a vessel. There is an art to adrenaline. What I didn’t know was there’s also an art in the moments that follow a big burst. The art of patience.
An offering:
Patience lives alongside perseverance. The two are insuperable, really. It takes a lot of both to get there… wherever ‘there’ is for you. Breathe some life into your pauses and they’ll propel you.
